Cryogenics Interview For “Vykhod Sily” Podcast

Hello there! Please introduce yourself. Who are you and where are you from?

Hello im Takis aka Cryogenics and im from Athens,Greece!

How long have you been producing?

I was playing around with sounds for many years but more serious the last 6 or 7 years

Where did it all begin for you? What was the main influence on you in terms of drum’n’bass music? What were the very first tunes that stroke you most?

I guess all started back to ’91 when a friend of mine came in my place with a mixtape from a pirate radio station with some hardcore tunes. Well in terms of Drum & Bass/Jungle (and not Hardcore/ Breakbeat) all the early tracks from Goldie,Foul Play,Bay B Kane,Paradox & Dj Trax, Photek, Dj Trace, Dj Krust, Roni Size and the list goes on…But there is a tune that I cant stop listening to it till…

MOR Drum & Bass Top 10 February

Many Thanks to Spectrum Music Blog!!!

MOR D&B write up for February. Big one from Mr Imms.
  1. Bone – Empty Place

Bone’s recent release on Authentic Music offers a beautiful floating drum and bass sound. This incredible track has the right balance of everything; clean vocals and overall quality sound. This track is coming out as part of ‘Authentic Gates of Dawn’, their biggest project to date.

  1. M-zine & Scepticz – The Grave

M-Zine & Scepticz first release on Avantgarde is something to get your ears around. This rolling drum and bass tune has that incredible flow and dark growl you’d expect from M-Zine and Scepticz. Also I’ve got to mention the absolutely crisp, crystal clear sound this tune has.

  1. Alix Perez ft D.Ablo – Playing Games VIP

Being up for free download, this track gathered a lot of attention. Alix Perez with this absolute divine VIP; the vocals fit perfectly with the murky rumble…

2014/02 : Welcome Gifts

What better way to start a new year than some mellow debut drumfunk from Greek producer Kappadee. Released on Audio Theory, Solonos Street invites a pretty energetic head-nodding with a subtle yet unsteady laid-backness from the both smoothly uplifting and at times weirdly distracting pads. The deep and mysterious flip Kemali is a less driving and more bass-heavy undertaking with some nice tribal-style percussion and drowning subs en masse. A slight thinker’s frown accompanies both tunes, but that’s merely a side-effect from the effort of intellectually following the beautifully arranged drum cascades – and probably just a sign of having listened to too much music that does not meet the requirements of complexity (in that case don’t bother). This one however matches basically everything one can ask for a fine start into 2014, so don’t let it slip!

RyO aka Cryogenics

RYO was chosen for this months featured artist because his variety of good production.  From Future Jungle, Breaks, HipHop, Downtempo, and beyond, he definitely is representing BASS music and contributing all the way from Greece, big up!

Name: Panagiotis Antonakis

Dj/Producer Name: Cryogenics or Ryo

City & Country Located in: Athens ,Greece

  • How would you describe the type of music you produce?

I like the deep and dark side of music in general; deep pads with dark soundscapes and a good melody. I think that a tune must conceal feelings inside. However this does not mean that I don’t like harder stuff. As far as drum and bass is concerned, I’ m more into the deep/minimal side of the spectrum, the main components being lots of percussions, a very simple drum loop, a haunting good atmosphere and of course BASS. In…
